One look at Chris and fans know one thing for certain: this guy f*nks.
Originally hailing from the tar sands of Canada, Chris first came to Shanghai as a result of a lost bar bet. It was a simple one: first one to finish their beer decides what country the other guy moves to. Chris’s Dad was pretty hardcore and picked China. A man of his word and dutiful son, Chris jumped on a flight the next day (with a quick seventeen hour layover in Helsinki) and made it to Shanghai shortly thereafter. Over Chris’s time in Shanghai, he’s gigged out at every major bar and venue, but his favorite still remains Helen’s in Wujiaochang.
An animal on the bass with equally sharp finger-picking on guitar in other bands, Chris’s musical style is somewhere in between Celine Dion and Bun B. The warm the welcoming Canadian spirit is interwoven ever so delicately with hard, driving beats. It’s impossible not to notice Chris rump shaking when he’s laying down some funky beats. Seamus Flickinger, a longtime Booty fan and band historian based in Glasgow, noted that a statistically significant amount of the time, Chris leads with a left glute flex before the right. Now that you know this, it’s impossible not to notice.
Driving goovy baselines in every Loose Booty song is Chris’s speciality (Booty Groupies take note, he prefers the pronunciation: spesh-ee-al-tee). You can hear him featured on every Loose Booty anthem, including ‘Seaside Funk’ which he composed yet routinely forgets the bass line to.
